The Core Strategy

The Core Strategy will set out a vision, key objectives and strategic planning policies for Knowsley. It explains what sort of place Knowsley is today and what sort of place it will be in the future.

It is important that our key stakeholders, communities, other interested parties and Council departments maximise opportunities to shape the Local Development Framework from the outset. This will ensure that the LDF is locally distinctive and takes account of local priorities.

During July 2008 Knowsley Council, with the help of Vision Twentyone, started the consultation process with a facilitated series of interactive stakeholder workshops. In total, 65 participants, including elected members, community and other stakeholders attended the four area based events to begin the initial process of identifying and debating the key issues that are important for Knowsley.

The four events focusing on the four township areas within Knowsley covered Halewood, Kirkby, Huyton, and Prescot, Whiston, Cronton, and Knowsley Village. Each of the events followed a similar structure, consisting of three main elements.

  • Introductory presentations by Vision Twentyone and Knowsley Council.
  • Structured group discussion
  • Individual digital voting exploring a number of topics following the group activities.

Vision Twentyone and Knowsley Council would like to thank all those who attended an area workshop in order to help ‘Plan Knowsley’ and encourage the continued engagement of stakeholders and other interested parties as the Local Development Framework progresses.

The executive summary and full report detailing the findings of the stakeholder engagement workshops are now available to download
