Welcome to Environment and Planning

Housing site suggestions
Interested parties and stakeholders are invited to suggest sites they think would be suitable for housing development, business uses or a mix of these and other uses from Thursday 25 October until 5pm Thursday 6 December.
This is part of our ‘Call for Sites’ process which
is part of two joint studies that are being undertaken,
Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA) and
Employment Land and Premises (EL&P).
The council is carrying out these joint studies to inform their
Local Development Framework (LDF), a portfolio of documents
introduced by the new planning system to allocate land for
different uses, following recommendations within guidance from
Government, ‘Strategic Housing Land Availability
Assessments: practice guidance’, (Department for
Communities and Local Government, 2007) (link opens new
window).
The ‘Call for Sites’ process does not imply any
commitment by the Council that such sites will be considered for
development in the future but that these sites will be judged
against relevant planning policies and other considerations inline
with government guidance.
The final study findings will be published in the early summer of
2008 after further assessments by independent consultants, when the
public will have the opportunity to comment on them.
The council would like to remind anyone wishing to propose a site
for development that a map showing the location of the site,
including detailed site boundaries is required to enable us to
precisely identify the site and record it on out own mapping
system.
Appropriate maps for submission can be found and purchased easily
on-line or via searching for a stockist in your local area.
‘Find your local map and Data
Centre’ (link opens new window).
Further guidance regarding appropriate scale and size can
be found in the '
Information on filling in the Site Suggestion
Form’.
