Design and access statements

Most types of applications must now be submitted with a design and access statement containing the information listed below:

  • Use amount of development
  • Indicative layout
  • Scale indicative access points

Exceptions:
Statements will not be required for applications for:

  • a change of use of land or buildings (unless it involves building works);
  • engineering or mining operations;
  • an extension to an existing dwelling or development within the site boundary of an existing dwelling, except where the dwelling is within a conservation area or a site of special scientific interest;
  • application to display an advertisement;
  • tree preservation order proposals; and
  • hazardous substances applications.

Note:
Applications received on or after the 10 August 2006 which do not contain a design and access statement will not be accepted. They will be sent back to you complete with your payment.
