Personal search
A personal search is an inspection of
the Local Land Charges Register. It
can be carried out by anyone upon
payment of the fee. Please note that a
Personal Search does not provide all
the information given on a full (LLC1
and CON 29) search.
It is the responsibility of the person carrying out the Personal Search to identify the land/property and to make any note of information held on the Register.

- With LLC1 £36.00
- Without LLC1 £11.00
Personal Search Procedures
Our normal office hours are Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.Appointment times are between 9.30am to 11.30am (5 appointments) and 2.00pm to 3.30pm (4 appointments) and are available on a 'first come first served' basis.
You will be able to carry out up to 4 searches on any one appointment, although this will be reduced if the searches relate to land, industrial parks or shopping centres.
To book an appointment
Ring the Local Land Charges office on 0151 443 3551.The following information will be required:
- Agents name, address and telephone number.
- Full postal address of the property or peice of land you are searching on.
- A plan for each property you are searching, clearly marking the outline of the area. Plans are to be faxed to 0151 449 3650 once you have made your appointment by telephone.
Attending the appointment
On arrival, report to the One Stop Shop reception. The Local Land Charges office will be informed of your arrival.It is important that you attend on time as we operate a strict appointment service. If you arrive more than 15 minutes late for the appointment you will be unable to carry out the Personal Search and you will be offered an alternative appointment.
All information revealed on the search will be given upon receipt of payment. A receipt for payment will be provided.
These procedures enable the team to carry out all the local land charges work fairly.
Note:
Access to the Urban Development Plan (UDP) is available online via Knowsley's planning website - Public Access portal.We are in the process of implementing a new Land Charges system which will improve the service we provide to our customers. Together with this we will be reviewing our processes and procedures for Personal Searches and will inform you of these in due course.
