Access Tools

Provided by the Performing Arts Service, music tuition includes:

• Instrumental and vocal tuition
• Specialist teachers to deliver lessons in primary, secondary and special schools on a variety of instruments
• Primary School taster programme for year 3 pupils which provides an introduction to learning an instrument

The service also organizes area music centres and singing clubs in the borough which give young musicians and singers the opportunity to develop skills they have learned in school. It also enables young people to experience live music performances:

• Music projects in schools
• Workshops
• Visits by professional musicians
• Concert and performance visits
• Festivals e.g. Music Alive and Celebration of Singing

In addition, Performance Groups (some of which are open to members of the public), perform regularly at local and national venues and have participated in visits and tours abroad:

• Knowsley Junior Choir
• Knowsley Youth Choir
• Knowsley Youth Orchestra
• Knowsley Concert Band
• Knowsley Youth Music Theatre
• Knowsley Music Theatre
• Knowsley Ladies Choir

The service also supports the delivery of National Curriculum Music as well as providing training for teachers in the Music Curriculum.
