Free school meals

School meals are free of charge to pupils whose parents are in receipt of:

  • Income Support
  • Income Based Job Seekers Allowance
  • Guarantee element of State Pension Credit
  • Support under part 6 of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • Child Tax credit plus income of less than £15,575 (this doesn't apply if your income is from employment)
However, your children will not be entitled to free school meals if either of the following apply:

  • You receive Child Tax Credit and Working Tax Credit (i.e. if you or your partner work) or
  • You receive Child Tax Credit and you have an income of more than £15,575

How to apply

To apply for school benefits you need to complete an SS1 application form. You can download the application form below or contact us using the details at the bottom of this page.

Please submit your application before the end of term 2 in the academic year.
