Pupils transferring to year 7 in secondary schools in Knowsley this year (September 2008) have a lot to look forward to. From January 2009 onwards, the brand new state-of-the-art learning centres will be opening, offering excellent facilities.

The temporary Governing Bodies of the new learning centres will shortly be making decisions on the new school uniforms that your children will wear. Like parents, they want a uniform that is attractive, good value for money and easy to buy locally. It should be something the young people are proud to wear.

The Governors know that you don’t want to buy expensive items of uniform for September 2008 which cannot be worn in the future. By July, you’ll receive a list of uniform items for use in September 2008 which takes account of the later transfer to the learning centres.

NB - A recent decision has been taken by the School Adjudicator that Kirkby community learning centre is to open in September 2008. Mrs Jervis, leader of the new learning centre, is contacting parents directly with information on uniform requirements. From September, this centre will be known as Kirkby Sports College
