Primary Future Schooling in Knowsley

Following on from Building Schools for the Future (BSF) the Government plans to deliver a 15 year primary capital programme starting in 2009-2010. It is expected that around £7 billion will be invested in primary schools over the next 15 years, with up to half of all primary schools and primary-age special schools receiving investment.
Knowsley has been chosen as a regional pilot for this scheme and with additional funding, three new primary learning environments will be built over the next three years.
- A two form entry community primary school, which will amalgamate Simonswood and Overdale schools and the Northern Primary Support Centre, as part of a campus in Northwood. This will include specialist provision and offer a children's centre. Download invitation to bid (competition notice).
- A two form entry, Greengates Community Primary, which will include the services of the existing Southern Primary Support in Halewood.
- A two form entry joint Catholic and Anglican primary on the site of the Catholic and Anglican learning centre in North Huyton. This will replace St Dominic's Infant and Junior schools.
Over the coming years, many of our primary and Special Educational Needs (SEN) schools will receive investment. It is critical that this investment improves education and raises standards across the borough and that children, in 10 to 15 years from now, are proud of their educational background.
