Established under the Excellence in Cities initiative, the city learning centres work with a number of partners to develop as national centres of excellence for the use of ICT, creative arts, media, sports and healthy living.

The City Learning Centres are high technology centres with a range of facilities creating stimulating, exciting, dynamic and challenging learning environments and are an integral part of Knowsley’s ICT strategy which is at the heart of an innovative approach to raising standards.

The Centres:

• Exploit and test new and innovative ways of teaching and learning
• Develop alternative curriculum projects to improve attainment levels through the use of technology
• Share facilities with partner schools, colleges and the wider community
• Promote community and lifelong learning
