The council has carried out two extensive consultation exercises in January and April this year. It included letters to all households and businesses in Kirkby, along with a series of public consultation events.

The applicant has made a second revision to their proposals, these changes follow comments received during the second round of consultation and are aimed at improving the application in line with the views of consultees. The main change reduces the proposed gross internal area of retail floorspace to 50,000 m2.

We would like to thank everybody who has commented on this planning application. If you have already written to us and do not want to raise any new issues you will not need to contact us again. If, however, you have any new comments that you would like us to consider then you need to send these to us in writing. Your comments will help the council understand the community's views on the scheme and will be taken into account in considering the planning application.

A summary of the comments received will appear in the officer's report, when the planning application is considered by the Planning Committee.

Background to this consultation
Knowsley Council has received a planning application for a major development in Kirkby.

This includes a new stadium, retailing (including superstore), food and drink uses, hotel, offices, commercial and community uses, petrol filling station, new residential development and demolition of existing dwellings, new car, bus and coach parking, together with new accesses, infrastructure and landscaping.

The planning application contains detailed plans for the superstore, stadium, retail and some of the new housing. The rest of the application is in outline form, which means that if planning permission is granted then further detailed plans will need to be submitted.
