Community grants

Knowsley Council works with local people, businesses and community groups to run programmes (groups of related projects) which use European Funding to help businesses start and grow in Knowsley and to help Knowsley people develop the skills to work in these businesses.

The whole of Merseyside is eligible for funding (known as Objective One) provided by the European Union to improve the economy. This money which Knowsley is eligible for comes from two different funds:

The European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)

This aims to improve economic prosperity and social inclusion by investing in projects to promote a successful and diverse local economy.

The European Social Fund (ESF)

This funds training, human resources and equal opportunities schemes to promote employability of people.

Other Community Grants

Aside from European funding there are a range of other grants available, for which certain organisations may be able to apply for. A system, to enable relevant grants to be identified is provided on the link below.

You will be required to register your organisations details in order to enter the system.

This information is used for monitoring purposes, to gauge the usage of the system

Who can apply

There is no restriction: public, private and voluntary sector bodies can all make applications. However there are strict controls in place to ensure that only projects that are really going to make a worthwhile contribution get funded and also to make sure that these projects deliver what they promise.
