Business and street trading licences

You must obtain a licence from the council if you wish to operate certain business within the borough. These include the following:

• Taxi licences for both hackney carriages and private hire vehicles plus a private hire operators licence if you wish to accept or invite private hire bookings.
• Street trader licence to sell goods or food on the street.
• A civil wedding premise licence if you wish to hold civil weddings or ceremonies at your establishment.
• Premises that wish to sell fireworks.

Other businesses require only that you register with the council.  These include:

• Running a food business establishment such as restaurants, mobile food vans and cafes.
