Regulation and Inspections

The Health and Safety team carries out regular checks on offices, shops, warehouses and other non-industrial premises. This is to ensure that safe and healthy working conditions are provided for all employees and members of the public who may visit these premises.

As with food safety, inspections are carried out on a routine basis, often without prior notification, and the high risk premises are visited more frequently.

Officers must be satisfied that hazards have been identified and risks adequately controlled. Key areas of risk include slips, trips and falls, workplace transport and occupational health. The level of training of managers and employees will be inspected to ensure that it is suitable.
