Food safety

Running a food business means that you have a
particular responsibility in protecting the health of your
customers.
You must comply with food safety legislation
before selling or processing food for sale and this includes
registering your food business with the council.
This also applies to mobile food traders.
Certain food business establishments are
required to be approved rather than registered. You can contact the
council if you are unsure which one applies to your business.
Food safety training
The council offers a variety of food hygiene
courses for food handlers and managers. These include:
- Chartered Institute of Environmental Health
(CIEH) levels 2, 3 and 4.
- Food safety awards.
